China Import Duty Calculator
Two rule changes made every older duty calculator wrong. The US removed the $800 de minimis exemption for Chinese goods in August 2025, and on 1 July 2026 the EU replaced its €150 duty-free allowance with a flat €3-per-item duty. This calculator uses the current rules for nine destinations and shows duty, import tax and courier handling separately, so you can see which part of the bill is actually driving the cost.
Your Parcel
Only used for the EU flat per-item duty introduced on 1 July 2026.
The $800 de minimis exemption no longer applies to goods of Chinese origin (removed August 2025). Duty is assessed from the first dollar; rates below include Section 301 tariffs.

What Changed in 2026
United States
No more $800 free pass
Section 321 de minimis no longer covers goods of Chinese origin. Every parcel is dutiable, and the rate includes Section 301 tariffs — roughly 27.5% on clothing and 20–48% on footwear. Budget a customs broker fee of $5–15 per parcel on top.
European Union
€3 per item, from the first euro
The €150 duty-free allowance ended on 1 July 2026. Parcels up to €150 now carry a transitional flat duty of €3 per item through mid-2028; above €150 the normal category rate applies. Import VAT (19–23%) has applied from the first cent since 2021.
Questions
Is the $800 US de minimis exemption still valid in 2026?+
Not for goods of Chinese origin. The Section 321 de minimis exemption was removed for imports from China and Hong Kong in August 2025, so duty is assessed from the first dollar regardless of declared value. Clothing carries roughly 27.5% including Section 301 tariffs; footwear ranges from 20% to 48% depending on material.
What changed in the EU on 1 July 2026?+
The EU scrapped the €150 customs-duty exemption. Parcels valued up to €150 now carry a transitional flat duty of €3 per item, in force through mid-2028. Above €150 the normal category rate applies (about 12% on clothing, 8–17% on footwear). Import VAT has applied from the first cent since 2021 and is charged on value plus duty.
Is the declared value the same as what I paid?+
It should be plausible for the contents and weight. Most agents let you set a declared value, but customs officers know what these goods cost — a 5 kg clothing haul declared at $5 triggers an inspection, and deliberate undervaluation can be penalised at up to four times the duty owed.
Does the estimate include shipping?+
No. The calculator works from the declared goods value only. Most customs authorities assess tax on value plus shipping plus insurance, so your actual bill will be slightly higher than the figure shown.
